1. Conran, R. J.: - British geologist. "The present paper describes the material collected by the University of London Beerenberg Expedition, 1961. The greater proportion of the material was collected by Miss R. J. Conran, a geologist on the expedition" (Sheard 1962: 76).

2. Lynge: - Norwegian lichenologist. "Besides a cursory visit of one day made by Lynge in 1929 no other expert lichenologist has visited the island". (Sheard 1962: 76).

3. Sheard, J. W.: - British lichenologist. Visit of 8 days in 1961(?). "Unfortunately the main business on the island was glaciology and not lichenology" (Sheard 1962: 76).
