Protologue: Absconditellae lignicolae similis sed differt apotheciis minoribus (0.06-0.13 µm diam.), hymenio planiore et ascosporis angustioribus, (10-)12.2(-15) x (3.0-)3.6(-4.5) µm. Crescit in corticis.

Protologue type data: Type: Canada. British Columbia: Glacier National Park, Bear Creek Falls, 51°18'N, 117°25'W, 6 Aug 2005, Goward 05-659 (holotype: UBC).

Type locality: Canada, British Columbia, Glacier National Park, Bear Creek Falls, on bark of Tsuga heterophylla, altitude unkown, 5 August 2005, T. Goward 05-659 (UBC - holotype).

Type locality coordinates: 51°18'N, 117°25'W (Spribille et al. 2009: 111).

Molecular barcode: Data lacking.

Description: Lichen. Thallus endosubstratal, consisting only of individial hyphae. Apothecia scattered, way creamish or pale whitish yellow, 0.06-0.083-0.13 mm diam., 60-90 µmtall; disc pale whitish, flat to weakly concave; ascocarp margin (excipulum) well developed and persistant, of tangled hyphae, continuous underneath hymenium, laterally 12-20 µm thick, narrowing basally to 7-11 µm; subhymenium 14-25 µm tall, consisting of irregular ascogenous hyphae; hymenium (40-)50(-57) µm tall, weakly gelatinized, easily separated in water or 1Lugol; epithecium not differentiated; paraphyses simple to 1-branched in the upper third, thin, to 1.2 µm thick, lumina 0.5-1.0 µm; asci narrowly clavate, 46-48 x 5-10 µm ILugol-, with differentiated but non-amyloid tholus; ascospores 8 per ascus, thin-walled, mostly 3-septate, rarely 1- or 4-septate, narrowly ellipsoid, (10-)12.2(-15) x (3.0-)3.6(-4.5) µm, colorless in water, ascospore lumen ILugol+ golden. Pycnidia unknown (Spribille et al. 2009: 111).

Photobiont: Green alga, cells ca. 6 µm diam., with thick gelatinous sheath, scattered in cell interspaces of phellem (Spribille et al. 2009: 111).

Chemistry: All spot tests negative (Spribille et al. 2009: 111). No lichen substances.

Ecology: On bark of Tsuga heterophylla in a waterfall spray zone.

Distribution type: Endemic. Known only from the type locality.
