Thallus: indeterminate covering areas of at least several cm, squamules unequally sized 0.3-1(-1.5) mm broad, 0.3-0.5(-0.7) mm thick, angular or difform, even sublobate, smooth, with appressed or rarely free edges, usually distinctly gomphate. No reaction with KOH or CaCl2O2. - Upper cortex 40-70(-85) µm thick, exterior half or two-third greenish yellow inspersed, opaque, with no or very thin amorphous stratum, lumina distinct already in water, often so even in the coloured part, in HCl very distinct 2.5-3.5 µm, thin-walled. Gonidia 7-14 µm in diam., in a dense unbroken 85-120(-200) µm thick stratum with even upper surface. Medulla usually transparent or occasionally milk-white from a not-granular stuff, dissolving in KOH but not in HCl, up to 300 µm thick). Hyphae somewhat loosely intricate or partly more densely, distinctly thin-walled, 2.5-3.5 µm thick, with cylindric 6-7 x 2 µm large or more or less rounded cells.
