Protologue: Angiactis rupes calcares incolens, thallo cretaceo, apotheciis rotundis vel lirelliformis, ascosporibus vulgo triseptatibus vel tetraseptatibus 17-28 µm longis 5-10 µm latis, erythrinum continens.

Protologue type data: Type: Bermuda. Warwick Parish: Stonehole Bay National Park, off South Road, on shaded, dry underhangs of limestone cliffs along the coast, 32°15'18"N, 64°48'48"W, 17 m alt., 16 Aug 2006, LaGreca 1543 (BM, holotype).

Type locality: United Kingdom, Bermuda, Warwick Parish, Stonehole Bay National Park, off South Road, on shaded, dry underhangs of limestone cliffs along the coast, 17 m, 16.8.2006, S. LaGreca 1543 (BM - holotype).

Type locality coordinates: 32°15'18"N, 64°48'48"W.

Description: Thallus crustose, to 4 cm in diam., continuous, scurfy-crustose, chalk-white; cortex absent; medulla white, cretaceous, with crystals; prothallus indistinct. Ascomata ellipsoid to elongate ... .

Photobiont: Trentepohlia spec.

Chemistry: Thallus C+ red (at least around apothecia or apothecium margins), KOH-, PD-, UV+ violet. Erythrin plus traces of two unidentified compounds were found with TLC. These unidentified compounds were visible in solvent A only. No gyrophoric or lecanoric acid was detected (Aptroot et al. 2008: 512).
