Protolog: Thallo albo, UV-, ostiolo eccentrico, ascosporis ovoideis vel interdum late fusiformibus, laevibus, septis distincte submedianis, 32-38 x 13.5-18 µm et macroconidiis ovoideis, 5-7 x 2.5-4 µm.

Marion County: ca. 0.5 mi S of U.S. 40 & 1 mi W of Oklawaha River bridge, mesic hammock of Liquidambar styraciflua, Celtis laevigata, Sapindus marginata & Quercus virginiana, on trunk of Ulmus crassifolia, 23 May 1994, Griffin 3217 (NY, holotype; ESS, FLAS, H, isotypes).

Type locality: USA, Florida, Marion County, ca. 0.5 miles south of U.S. 40 & 1 mile west of Oklawaha River bridge, mesic hammock of Liquidambar styraciflua, Celtis laevigata, Sapindus marginata & Quercus virginiana, on trunk of Ulmus crassifolia, 23.5.1994, D. Griffin 3217 (NY - holotype; ESS, FLAS, H - isotypes).

Type locality coordinates: 29°12'36" N, 82°3'36" W; 29.21, -82.06.

Barcode: Data lacking.

Thallus: white, endophoeodal, UV-, Ascomata covered by thin layer of thallus, + lageniform, ca. 0.5-0.6 x 0.4 mm; ostiole eccentric to lateral; wall entirely melanized or only to base of hamathecium. Asci cylindrical to subclavate, 150-210 x 30-40 µm, with eight biseriate spores. Ascospores ovoid or somewhat fusiform, slightly constricted at the markedly submedian septum, smooth, 32-40 x 12-18 µm; microconidia subglobose, ca. 2 µm diam.; macroconidia ovoid, 5-7 x 2-5-4 µm (Harris 1995: 121).

Photobiont: Data lacking.

Chemistry: No lichen substances.

Ecology: On bark, mesic hammock of Liquidambar styraciflua, Celtis laevigata, Sapindus marginata & Quercus virginiana, on trunk of Ulmus crassifolia.
