Sometimes with scattered, orange-yellow, up to 0.2 mm large squamules, which can become rather effigurate. Apothecia zeorine, numerous, dispersed or very crowded, sometimes forming raised conglomerates, mostly 0.5 mm diam., but occasionally up to 0.9 mm. Disc flat to slightly convex, orange. Thalline margin somewhat paler then the proper margin, irregular and in epixylic specimens confluent with the squamules. Amphithecium will-developed with algae in the lateral part. Medulla loose, with 8.5 µm long, slightly inflated cells. Cortex about 40 µm thick, consisting of conglutinated, anticlinal hyphae with narrow elongated cells, about 10 µm long, with many oil droplets. Lateral 7 µm of cortex impregnated with orange yellow epipsamma. Parathecium 10 µm thick, densely conglutinate, consisting of parallel, thin hyphae with long cells. Peripheral part fan-shaped with 10 µm long cells. Hypothecium up to 80 µm, very densely conglutinate, consisting of intricately interwoven hyphae, with many oil droplets. Hymenium 90 µm, with medium coarse epipsamma. Paraphyses conglutinated, apically rarely branched and slightly inflated, up to about 4 µm thick. Ascospores: Asci with 8 spores.
