Thallus: foliose, irregularly spreading, but often growing in small, shallowly incised rosettes up to 0.7 cm diam. Lobes + broadly cuneate, 0.7-1.5(-2) mm wide, appressed, + entire or shallowly incised, with marginal, coarse-grained soralia, often nearly labriform with soredia developing on the upturned lower surface. Upper surface smooth or faintly pruinose, normally citrine-yellow to yellow. Lower surface whitish, with white rhizines. Apothecia extremely rare, similar to those of C. concolor, but spores possibly narrower (see Poelt & Reddi 1969: 14) (Jørgensen & Galloway 1992: 407).
