Digitothyrea polyglossa (Nyl.) P. P. Moreno & Egea

Basionym: Omphalaria polyglossa Nyl., Flora, Regensburg 59: 558 (1876).

 

Type locality: Cuba, Lich. Cubenses Ser. II, 47, Wright (H-NYL 42671 - lectotype; G, UPS - isolectotypes). Lectotypification by Henssen (1986: 494).

Molecular barcode: Data lacking.

Thallus: lobes narrow, 0.5-1.5 µm, flat, furrowed on the lower surface, bearing large granules (isidia in Henssen 1986) on the upper surface; hyphae arranged in a loos strand in the central part of the thallus and perpendicularly towards the margins; and excipulum proprium restricted to the basal part of the apothecia. In the type collection (H-NYL 42671) small flat lobes lying on the upper surface of larger lobes, are present. This character is not found in other collections from Mexico (Moreno & Egea 1992: 225).

Photobiont: Data lacking.

Chemistry: No lichen substances.

Ecology: On seapage slopes of more or less exposed limestone (Moreno & Egea 1992: 225).

Distribution Type: Cuba, Mona Island near Puerto Rico, Mexico: Hidalgo.
