Basionym: Cetraria cucullata (Bellardi) Ach. f. minuscula Elenkin & Savicz, Trudy Bot. Muz. Imp. Akad. Nauk 8: 43 (1910).

Type: Russia, Khabarovsk Region, Dzhugdzhur Range, Chelasin [River], ca. 57°N, 137°E, alt. 400 - 1000 m, dry peat bog, 21 May 1903, Ir. M. Shchegolev, 1909 (LE).

 

Description: Lichen. Thallus fruticose, lobes slender, erect, tube-like, 0.5 - 1.5 - 3 mm wide, 2 - 3 - 4 cm tall, margin convoluted, overlapping and occasionally fused, flexuous, crisped, tips helmet-shaped hooked which occasionally bear inconspicuous patches of white pruina. Apothecia unknown (Zhurbenko et al. 2005: 202).

Photobiont: Data lacking.

Chemistry: K-, C-, P-, usnic acid, protolichesterinic acid (Zhurbenko et al. 2005: 202).

Ecology: Data lacking.

Distribution: Amphi-Beringian distribution (Eastern Siberia, Chukotka, Interior Alaska).

Note: Flavocetraria minuscula is like a miniature morph of Flavocetraria cucullata. It differs however, in having narrower, more tubular lobes with helmet-shaped lobe tips.
