Protolog: Thallus dull brownish grey, consisting of cylindrical to flattened or branched isidia of up to 0.9 mm long and 0.1-0.2 mm wide, on a black hypothallus mat. Apothecia sessile on the basis of isidia, turbinate, black, dull, angular, c. 0.2-0.3 mm wide, single or usually in dense groups of up to 0.8 mm with 4-15 apothecia with separate margins, margin c. 0.1 mm wide, higher than the disc, disc initially flat, later gyrose. Epihymenium c. 5 µm thick, black, granular. Hymenium 60-100 µm high, partly hyaline, partly bluish, partly bluish grey, partly brownish. Hypothecium black, not amyloid. Excipulum black throughout. Paraphyses mostly simple, moniliform, up to 5 µm wide. Asci clavate, with 8 ascospores, in IKI after KOH with a central blue plug and a separate thick blue ring. Ascospores hyaline, biseriate, globose, 6-8 µm diam., wall 1 µm thick.
