Description: Lichen. Thallus crustose, rimose or warted-areolate, esorediate; areoles mostly isodiametric, sometimes irregular in outline, 0.10-0.15 mm in diam., weakly to strongly convex, surface light gray or beige to brownish, with a yellow tinge. Apothecia rounded to slightly deformed, rarely tuberculate, single or in small groups, rarely crowded, sessile with constricted base, av. diam. 0.45-0.50 mm, max. diam. 0.75-1.00 mm; disc pinkish ochre to orange-brown, matt, finely whitish pruinose, flat to moderately, rarely strongly convex; thalline margin only slightly prominent when young, soon excluded or reduced to a non prominent rim, sometimes missing from the beginning, of same color as thallus, hardly any terpenoid crystals visible even in old specimens. Amphithecium decorticate, laterally 55-80 µm, basally 65-120 (-180) µm wide, densely filled with small brownish granules, some collections with additional cylindric crystals of 2-4 x 5-10 µm, parathecium 20-40 µm wide; hypothecium (40-)60-105 µm high, colorless; subhymenium 35-70 µm high; hymenium 45-55 µm high, colorless or pale yellowish; epihymenium 10-15 µm high, often streaking far down into hymenium, ochre to orange-brown, granular; paraphyses simple or weakly branched and anastomosing, colorless, lumina 0.7-1.2 µm, apically 1.0-1.2(-1.5) µm wide. Ascospores (8.5-)10.5-12.3(-15.0) x (3.5-)3.9-4.5(-5.0) µm. Pycnidia unknown (Printzen 2001: 391).
