Description: Lichen. Thallus crustose, continuous, verruculose to verrucose, clearly delimited, whitish grey to greenish grey, prothallus absent. Apothecia 1 - 2.5 - 3 mm diam., numerous, usually aggregated, sessile or slightly constricted at the base, thalline margin well developed, concolorous with thallus, usually flexuose and more flexuose with age, persistent, disc pale brown, red brown to dark brown, epruinose, flat to concave. Epihymenium orange-brown, pulicaris-type (Brodo 1984), with crystals on surface and between the paraphyses, HNO3 insoluble, KOH soluble, amphithecium pulicaris-type, with large irregular crystals in the amphithecial medulla, HNO3 soluble, KOH insoluble, cortex pulicaris-type, gelatinous, 17 - 35 µm, not to slightly thickened at base, cortical granules, HNO3 insoluble, KOH soluble, parathecium hyaline, without crystals, c. 10 - 15 µm thick; hymenium 60 - 70 µm high, paraphyses 1 - 1.5 µm wide, sparsely branched and anastomosed, apices up to 3 µm, colourless to brown. Ascospores broadly ellipsoid, 12.0 - 15.0 / 7.5 - 10.0 µm. Conidiomata unknown (Martínez et al. 1999: 315).

Photobiont: Data lacking.

Chemistry: Atranorin (major), 2'-0-methylperlatolic acid (major), psoromic acid (major), chloroatranorin (minor), 2'-0-demethylpsoromic acid (minor), Thallus K+ yellow, C-, KC-. Thallus and apothecial margin PD+ yellow-orange (Martínez et al. 1999: 315).

Ecology: Corticolous on old Juniperus thurifera together with Pertusaria paramerae, 1200 - 1350 m (Martínez et al. 1999: 315).
