Protolog: Thallus exalbidus, delimitatus, ad oliquot millimetra diam., coloniis; plerumque sparse sorediatus; medulla distincta; acidis alectorialis et porphyrilicis continens.

Protolog type data: Type: Svalbard, Spitsbergen, SSE of Wijdefjorden, E of Austfjorden, SE of Finnekroken, the W-facing foothills of Finlandsveggen, 78°56.09'N, 16°30.19'E, alt. 20-30 m, on soil in Dryas octopetala heath, 5 July 2002, Tønsberg 31049 (BG holotype, NMW isotype).

Type locality: Svalbard, Spitsbergen, SSE of Wijdefjorden, E of Austfjorden, SE of Finnekroken, the W-facing foothills of Finlandsveggen, on soil in Dryas octopetala heath, 20-30 m, 5 July 2002, T. Tønsberg 31049 (BG - holotype; NMW - isotype).

Type locality coordinates: 78°56.09'N, 16°30.19'E.

Molecular barcode: Data lacking.

Thallus: small, whitish, colony-forming, with distinct medulla, soredia often sparse (Tønsberg & Zhurbenko 2006: 64).

Photobiont: Green alga.

Chemistry: Alectorialic acid and porphyrilic acid (Tønsberg & Zhurbenko 2006: 64).

Ecology: Terricolous.

Distribution type: Svalbard and Taymyr (Russia).

Taxonomy: Distinct from any previously described species in the genus (Tønsberg & Zhurbenko 2006: 64).

Note: The species was mentioned from mainland Russia when described from Svalbard.
