Thallus: grey or blue-grey, with a diffuse or slightly delimited margin, with thallus granules 80 - 180 µm wide (xxx).Chinky-granular, gray-green with yellowish subtones (Ladd et al. 1994: 135).

Photobiont:

Chemistry: KOH+ grape colored, producing a purple spot with Rf classes of 1/2/1 on TLC plates (Ladd et al. 1994: 135). Pannaric acid 6-methylester as a major substance by TLC (Sohrabi & Orange 2006: 102). Pannaric acid 6-methylester (+), 4-oxypannaric acid 6-methylester (+), 'vouauxii unknown 1' (+, see Tøsberg 1992), atranorin + and traces of unknowns (+) (Flakus et al. 2011: 64).

Ecology: On bark, soil and calcareous rock (Sohrabi & Orange 2006: 102).
