Thallus: pendulous, to 50 cm long, dichotomously or irregularly branched. Branches orange, gey towards the base of the thallus, subparallel, subterete or rarely somewhat flattened, longitudinally grooved, with short, divergent side branches. Isidia and soredia absent. Cortex soft, thin, fibrous, 20 - 30 µm. Medulla dense, axis solid, occupying more than one half of the width of the branch, with longitudinal strands of pseudoparenchymatous tissue in central parts. Apothecia lateral, to 5 mm in diameter, thalline exciple smooth, thalline margin without fibrils, disc dark brown, spores 5 - 6 / 7 - 8 µm.

Algae: Green algae.

Chemistry: Atranorin and canarionic acid in the cortex, an undetermined substance in Rf classes 6-6-6 in the medulla.

Ecology: corticolous.
