Type locality: Poland (formerly Germany), on granite boulders frequently washed over by water, in the bed of the river Bober on the right side of the Sattler near Hirschberg, Flotow, Körber.

Note: The authority citation Porocyphus coccodes (Flot.) Körb. by Wirth et al. (2011: 61)[Red List], Wirth et al. (2013: 918)[Flora], Scholz (2000: 202) and others is wrong, as Flotow (1850: 152) adds "ad int." to his description of "Collema coccodes". This is an invalid name.
