ITS barcode: Data lacking.

Description: Lichen. Thallus crustose, white, scabrid and chalky, continuous, subrimose with common convex (bullate) verrucae, 0.5-0.86-2.0 mm thick; margin distinct and thinner than thallus center; prothallus black, thin; medulla IKI-; soredia absent. Apothecia abundant, scattered to infrequently contiguous, soon becoming sessile, 0.8-1.2-2.0 mm diameter; ... (Gowan 1989: 38).

Photobiont: Data lacking.

Chemistry: Only a trace of stictic acid seen (accessory) (Gowan 1989: 38).

Ecology: HCl+ rocks in forests, in bogs, and on lakeshores.

Distribution type: Endemic on the shores of Lake Superior. Northeastern temperate to hemiboreal zone (Gowan 1989: 38).
