Type locality: Ethiopia. Data lacking.

Description: Thallus fruticose, up to 1 cm high, irregularly branched. Branches stramineous, terete, hollow, with small perforations especially on distal parts of secondary branches. Surface smooth, opaque. Medullary layer moderately dense, continuous. Soredia absent. Apothecia terminal on short lateral branches, concave at first, becoming plane, to 3 mm diameter. Spores 18 - 20 - 22 / 8 - 9 - 10 µm, straight or curved (Swinscow & Krog 1988: 276).

Chemistry: Sekikaic acid agg. (Swinscow & Krog 1988: 276), usnic acid in the cortex.

Ecology: Corticolous on twigs in the ericaceous zone at 3000 to 3500 m, rare (Swinscow & Krog 1988: 276).

Distribution type: Fuerteventura (Spain) [erroneously mapped in mainland Spain in GBIF], Ethiopia, Algeria, South Africa (GBIF).
