Type: RUSSIA. Sakhalinskaya Oblast. Chirpoi Island, Gage 7096 (WTU); Kharimkotan Island, Joneson 1792 (WTU); Onekotan Island, Joneson 1721 (WTU); Ushishir Island, Semsrott 1090 (WTU).

Type locality:

Thallus: Saxicolous, fistulose, and apotheciate.

Chemistry: Usnic acid, divaricatic acid and sekikaic acid complex and salazinic acid or the acid complex.

Ecology: This species is found consistently throughout the Kuril archipelago where it grows on coastal rocks above high-tide line to vertical cliffs 100 m inland.
