Ramalina dilacerata (Hoffm.) Hoffm.

Basionym: Lobaria dilacerata Hoffm., Deutschl. Fl., Zweiter Theil (Erlangen): 140 (1796) [1795]

 

Description: Lichen. Thallus fruticos, shrubby and fistulose, growing from a narrow holdfast, inflated and more or less pellucid with sparse side branches tapering towards the apices, sparse and small fenestrations, discontinuous medullary hyphae with isolated bundles of hyphae (Kashiwadani & Moon 2002), ascospores shortly fusiform, 12 - 14 - 16 /4 - 5 µm in size (Kashiwadani et al. 2006: 164).

Chemistry: Usnic acid in the cortex, sekikaic acid (Kashiwadani et al. 2006: 164).

Ecology: Corticolous on bark.
