Type: Herb. Persoon, no data (L - lectotype). TLC: evernic acid complex.

 

Thallus: fruticose, shrubby, 1.5 - 4 - 5 cm high, with a number of sparingly to moderately branched, more rarely few palmately branched, laciniae from a common holdfast. Laciniae 1 - 3 - 5 mm broad, green-grey, variously compressed and irregular in cross-section, longitudinally furrowed, sometimes fenestrate. Pseudocyphellae absent. Soralia absent. Cortex thin, compressed, indistinct, chondroid cylinder coninuous, here and there developing into thick bundles of chondroid tissue jutting into the lax and patchy medulla. Pycnidia not known. Apothecia usually numerous, mainly apical to subapical, often spurred, at first deeply concave, becoming flat and finally convex, spores 10 - 13 / 4.5. - 6 µm (Krog & Østhagen 1980: 273).

Ecology: Corticolous.
