Ramalina nervulosa (Müll. Arg.) des Abb.

Basionym: Ramalina farinacea var. nervulosa Müll. Arg., Flora 66: 21 (1883) "Corticola in Norfolk Island: Dr. Woolls, ad Daintree River Australiae orientalis: Pentzke, in insula Taiti: Jardin, in insulis Marianis: Gaudichaud, et in India orientali ad Kiragulapatam: J. Campbell".

Thallus: up to 4 cm long but often shorter, morderately branched, branching mainly dichotomous, with wide angles. Branches pale stramineous or pale greenish grey, solid, more or less flattened near the base, angular-terete in distal parts, o.3 - 0.8 mm wide, tapering apically, with marginal pseudocyphellae and faint longitudinal laminal striae, occasionally perforated; longitudinal cracks in the cortex not uncommon. Soralia marginal, ellipsoid, or confluent and then irregularly elongate. Apothecia rare, lateral, stipitate, to 2.5 mm diameter, flat or convex. Spores fusiform, straight or slightly curved, 16 - 22 / 5 - 6 µm, with pseudosepta (Swinscow & Krog 1988: 284).

Race II: Homosekikaic acid, sekikaic acid, 4'-0-methylnorhomosekikaic acid and associated substances (= var. dumeticola (Krog & Swinscow) N. Stevens) (Swinscow & Krog 1988: 284). Homosekikaic acid, sekikaic acid, a sekikaic-related acid, traces of unidentified compounds (Alstrup et al. 2010: 347).
Race III: Sekikaic acid, 4'-0-methylsekikaic acid, and associated substances (= var. luciae (Molho et al.) N. Stevens (Swinscow & Krog 1988: 284).

Ecology: Corticolous on shrubs in mangroves and coastal hills up to ca. 400 m altitude, rare but locally common.
