Type: Mexico. Estado de Sinaloa: 1.7 km S of La Reforma, 25°06'N, 108°02'W, 10 m, on Fouqueria in coastal thorn forest, 27 November, 1975, T.H. Nash 12303 (ASU holotype; TNS isotype)..

 

Thallus: Corticolous, up to 20 cm long, pendulous, sparingly branched, growing from a narrow holdfast. Laciniae greenish yellow, solid, up to 5 (- 10) mm wide, flat. Soralia absent. Pseudocyphellae linear, fat. Laciniae 150 – 300 µm thick; cortex indistinct, 10 – 12 µm thick; chondroid tissue smooth, discontinuous; medulla loose. Apothecia common, marginal or submarginal; disc without white margin; thalloid exciple pseudocyphellate; ascospores broadly ellipsoid, 14 – 16 x 4.8 – 5.6 µm. Pycnidia not seen.
