Type locality: Argentinia. Prov. de Chubut, Canadon de Lagarto (km 117, ferrocarril Conodoro Rivadavia-Colonia Sarmiento; 45°50'S, 68°20'W), ad corticem Anarthrophylli rigidi (GILL.) Benth., c. 600 m.s.m. sp.-sp. cp.-veris. fr. growing together with Physcia cfr. adscendens, Josefpoeltia sorediosa, Lecidella sp., 5.11.1970 H. Roivainen as Plantae Argentinae 2255 (H - holotype).

Thallus: foliose, up to 2.5-4 cm diam., very thin 55-80(-100) µm thick, consisting of two paraplectenchymatous cortical layers, each 15-20 µm thick, including only 2-3 layers of polygonal cells 5-10 x 5-7 µm; medulla lax, algae cells single or in groups; yellowish orange, consists of very narrow lobes with marginal soralia, with abundant, well-developed easily visible white, long rhizines raising the thallus above the substrate. Lobes very narrow, 0.1-0.2 mm wide, richly branched, 2-4(-5) mm long, forming a sparse network on the substrate. Rhizines abundant, white 0.5-1.0 mm long. Soredia spherical, yellowish orange, up to 35 µm diam., on the lower surface, mainly on the tops of lobes but sometimes at the lobe margins as well. Apothecia and conidiomata not seen (Kondratyuk & Kärnefelt 1997: 28).
