Protolog: Diagnosis.- Thallus granular squamulose, grey, parasitic on Hydropunctaria sp. on maritime rocks; apothecia yellow with prominent margin; asci with 8 hyaline, ellipsoid, polardiblastic ascospores, ca. 14 x 7 µm with ca. 6 µm thick septum.

Protolog type data: Type: Chile. XII Región de Magellanes y Antartica Chilena: Canal Beagle, Seno Holanda, 54.9420°S, 69.1545°W, alt. 2 m, N-exposed overhanging rock, 1 m from the sea, 27.i.2015. U. Søchting 12295 (C!, holotype; LD!, isotype).

Type locality: Chile, XII Región de Magellanes y Antartica Chilena, Isla Grande de Tierra del Fuego [Big Island of Land of Fire], Canal Beagle, Seno Holanda, N-exposed overhanging rock, 1 m from the sea, 2 m, 27 January 2015, U. Søchting 12295 (C - holotype; LD - isotype).

Molecular barcode: ITS KU578078, KC179306, KU578079, KU578080, KU578081, KU578082, KU578083, KU578084 presented by Søchting et al. (2016: 4).

Thallus: Data lacking.

Photobiont: Data lacking.

Chemistry: The grey thallus is K-, C-, KC-, PD-, UV- and N- and contains no extractable secondary compounds. Orange pigmented parts of the thallus and the apothecia are K+ red. Parietin is the strongly dominant secondary compound in the apothecia corresponding to chemosyndrome A of Søchting (1997) (Søchting et al. 2016: 4).

Ecology: Parasitic on Hydropunctaria sp. on maritime rocks.

Taxonomy: Data lacking.

Note: Simultaneously with the description from an Patagonian island (Chile), the species was recorded from the Falkland Islands, Macquarie Island (Australia) and the Chilean mainland.
