Stereocaulon anomalum Lamb

Thallus: Pseudopodetia up to 6 cm tall. Phyllocladia nodular to palmate, with nodular to dactyliform branching. Cephalodia sacculate. Soredia absent. Apothecia uncommon, on short stipes, or sessile, on upper half of pseudopodetia. Spores 40-60 x 3-5 µm, with up to 7 septa (Swinscow & Krog 1988: 296).

Chemistry: Stictic acid, norstictic acid (PD+ orange), atranorin (Swinscow & Krog 1988: 296).

Ecology: In East Africa in open montane forest at 1300 to 2200 m, rare.
