Basionym: Lobaria fuliginosa Hoffm., Deutschl. Fl. 2: 109 (1796).

 

Type locality: Great Britain, Wales, Cader Idris, August 1726 (Dillenius 1742, Tab XXVI, Fig. 100A - lectotype, OXF - epitype; Laundon 1984, Galloway 1997).

Thallus: foliose, very thin, brittle when dry, edges often curled downward. Lobes ... (McDonald 2003: 76).

Photobiont: A cyanobacterium.
