Thallus: very small, 15-25 mm diam., rounded, stellate, with very narrow lobes, entangled, esoredious, epapillous, orange. Lobes flattened, richly branched, 0.1-0.3 mm diam., up to 5 mm long, at apices often moniliform, almost granulose, underneath corticate, whitish, moderately rhizinate. Thallus rather thin in section, 60-70 µm thick. Epicortical layer c. 3 µm thick, bright yellowish brown. Upper and lower cortex paraplectenchymatous, each 15-20 µm thick, consisting of 2(-3) layers of polygonal cells (3-)5-9 x 3-4(-7) µm. Apothecia common, mainly central, 0.5-1.5 mm diam., rounded, plane, orange or becoming yellowish brown, with thin thalline margin, entire and persistent. Hymenium hyaline, 65-70 µm tall. Hypothecium hyaline or slightly brownish, thin. Epithecium granular, 10-20 µm thick, dark. Asci narrowly clavate, c. 45 x 16 µm, 8-spored. Ascospores hyaline, ellipsoid, straight or slightly curved, 12-13 x 5.5-8 µm, septum thick. Paraphyses thin, c. 0.8 µm thick, simple at apices moniliform, swollen. Conidiomata in dark orange warts, c. 0.1 mm diam. Conidia narrowly bacilliform 3.5-4.0(-4.5) x 0.7-0.8 µm. (Kondratyuk & Kärnefelt 1997: 29).
