Type locality: Argentina, Province Salta, Las Pailas, M. Adler (ANUC - Holotype, BAFC - isotype).

Molecular barcode: Data lacking.

Thallus: adnate to loosely adnate, to 5 cm broad, yellowish green; lobes subirregular to sublinear-elongate, 1.3 - 2.5 mm wide, separate to imbricate; upper surface continuous, emaculate, dull to shiny at the apices, often black-rimmed, moderately to densely isidiate, the isidia globose at first, becoming subcylindrical, 0.10-0.15 mm in diameter, to 0.4 mm high, the tips syncorticate, pale, dense, and coralloid branched at maturity; medulla white; lower surface plane, light tan to pale brown, sparsely to moderately rhizinate, the rhizines pale brown, thin, simple, 0.4-1 mm long. Apothecia unknown. Pycnidia unknown (Hale 1990: 61).

Photobiont: Trebouxia.

Chemistry: Salazinic acid, consalazinic acid, usnic acid, norlobaridone (Hale 1990: 61); thallus K-, medulla K+ yellow then red, C-, KC-, P+ orange to red; containing usnic acid, salazinic acid (major), consalazinic acid, norlobaridone (trace) and protocetraric acid (trace) (Nash et al. 1995: 29).

Ecology: On soil and mosses, rarely on rocks (Hale 1990: 61).
