Thallus: foliose to subcrustose, very tightly adnate to rocks, dark yellowish green, areolate at the center, 2-3 cm diameter, lobes sublinear, 0.2 - 0.7 mm wide, contiguous to subimbricate. Upper surface shiny, continuous, emaculate, moderately isidiate, isidia cylindrical, 0.03 - 0.05 mm diameter, to 0.1 mm tall, the tips syncorticate, blackening, unbranched; medulla white. Lower surface plane, black, moderately rhizinate, rhizines black, simple, 0.1 - 0.3 mm long. Apothecia rare, adnate, to 1 mm diameter, spores 9 - 10 / 5 - 6 µm. Pycnidia unknown (Nash 1995: 30).

Photobiont: Trebouxia.

Chemistry: Alectoronic acid, usnic acid (Hale 1990: 74). Thallus K-, medulla K-, C-, KC-, P-, UV+ white, usnic acid, alectoronic acid (Nash 1995: 30).

Ecology: On acidic rocks at mid to low elevations (Nash 1995: 30).
