Type: Hungary, Magas-Tátra, Com. Szepes, Felkai vizesés, 1.8.1917, Timkó 3618 (BP - lectotype).

 

Thallus: loosely adnate, pulvinate, brittle, 5-10 cm broad, dark yellowish green; lobes sublinear, 0.6-1.2 mm wide, short and irregularly branched, almost appearing inflated, densely imbricate, the margins crenate and black rimmed, short lobulate with age; upper surface continuous to faintly white-maculate, shiny, isidia and soredia lacking; medulla white; lower surface plane, brown, sparsely to moderately rhizinate, the rhizines brown, simple, 0.2-0.4 mm long. Apothecia and pycnidia unknown.

Photobiont: Trebouxia.

Chemistry: Salazinic acid, consalazinic acid, usnic acid.

Ecology: on granitic rocks or on mosses over rocks.
