Thallus: foliose, tightly adnate to adnate, 2-6 cm broad; lobes subirregular to sublinear, 0.6-2 mm wide, imbricate, secondary ones towards the margins and the center becoming weakly canaliculated with a weakly developed marginal rim; upper surface continuous, emaculate, shiny, becoming cracked and rugulose at the center, isidia and soredia lacking; medulla white; lower surface plane, pale brown, darkening towards the margins, sparsely to moderately rhizinate, the rhizines pale brown, stout, simple, 0.2-0.4 mm long. Pycnidia rare; conidia bifusiform, 0.5 x 6-7 µm. Apothecia common, substipitate, 2-4 mm in diameter; spores 5-6 x 10-12 µm.

Photobiont: Trebouxia.

Chemistry: Norlobaridone, loxodin, scabrosin 4.4Ž-dibutyrate (+/-), scabrosin 4-acetate-4Ž-butyrate (+/-), scabrosin 4-acetate-4Ž-hexanoate (+/-), usnic acid.

Ecology: on rock or pebbles.
