Protolog: Thallus ut in Xanthoparmelia globulifera sed lobis et isidii differt. Superficies superior isidiata, isidiis globosis demum cylindribus, simplicibus demum coralloidibus. Superficies inferior brunnea, modice rhizinata, rhizinis simplicibus concoloribus. Thallus K-; medulla K, C, P-, UV-; acidum usnicum, acidum constipaticum et acidum protoconstipaticum continens.

Protolog type data: Typus: Spain, Canary Islands, Tenerife, El Teide National Park, Llano de la Santidad, UTM: 332397/3126164, 2000 m alt., NE exposure, on solid basaltic rocks in open Pinus canariensis C. Sm. ex DC. in Buch forest (reafforestation), 23 April 2006, C. Hernández-Padrón & P. L. Pérez de Paz 6589 (TFC Lich-holotypus; CANB - isotypus).

Type locality: Spain, Canary Islands, Tenerife, Municipio Guía de Isora, El Teide National Park, Llano de la Santidad, NE exposure, on solid basaltic rocks in open Pinus canariensis forest (reafforestation), 2000 m, 23.4.2006, C. Hernández-Padrón & P. L. Pérez de Paz 6589, UTM 332397/3126164 (TFC-Lich - holotype; CANB - isotype).

Type locality coordinates: 28°16'24N, 16°38'32W; 28.273333°, -16.642222°.

Molecular barcode: Data lacking.

Thallus: foliose, adnate, 3-10 cm wide. Lobes subirregular, apically rotund, contiguous to sparingly imbricate, 1-2.5 mm wide. Upper surface yellow-green, emaculate, isidiate, soredia absent. Isidia moderately dense to dense, globose at first but then cylindrical, simple or rarely becoming coralloid, to 1 mm high, concolorous with the upper surface, apices blackened, syncorticate. Medulla white. Lower surface mid-brown to dark brown, but not blackened. Rhizines sparse to medium, simple, concolorous with the lower surface, to 1 mm long. Apothecia and pycnidia not seen (Pérez-Vargas et al. 2007: 446).

Photobiont: Data lacking.

Chemistry: Cortex K-, C-, KC-, yellow, P-, UV-; medulla K-, C-, KC-, P-, UV-; containing usnic acid, constipatic acid and protoconstipatic acid (Pérez-Vargas et al. 2007: 446).

Ecology: Saxicolous on silicious stone.

Distribution: Known only from the type locality. Database
